Photographing the Santa Monica Pier at Sunset
One of the most photographed spots in Los Angeles is the Santa Monica pier and for good reason. It is a very iconic landmark in Los Angeles and it helps that the pier and its surroundings are so photogenic. This means that it in increasingly more difficult to capture a unique photo of the pier.

It is a very iconic landmark in Los Angeles and it helps that the pier and its surroundings are so photogenic. This means that it in increasingly more difficult to capture a unique photo of the pier. As a photographer, once you capture that hero image of the pier, you have to focus on finding a unique way of capturing it. Every so often, I make my way to Santa Monica to try to capture something a little different than I have in the past. The last time I was there, I shot some long exposure photos. This time, I set out to capture something a little different.
